Beautiful Bangka

Bangka, which covers an area of about 11,69 kilometers square, has many interesting places to visit. This is because of it's geographical position. This island is made of swamps, plains, hills, and peaks covered by thick forest, also by mangrove area. Bangka's specialty is its smooth sandy white beaches sprinkled with granite.

Let see some nature site in Bangka Island first. The most well known beach in Bangka is Matras. It is located on Sinar Baru village, Sungailiat Subdistrict, beside the eastern sea of Bangka island. This beach is very beautiful. The sand is white and soft. The length of this beach reaches 3 kilometers with width 20-30 meters. In the background, there are coconut trees and a river, that's why its called 'Heaven Beach'. The other well known beaches are Parai Tenggiri, Tanjung Pesona, Batu Bedaun, Tikus & Layang, Rebo, Teluk Uber, Romodong, Penyusuk, and Air Anyer.

Bangka has many interesting historical sites too. the famous
one is Monument Otto Toorop 1864. This monument is a witness on Hollanders who have been a service to the development and utilization of human resources and natural resources to manage lead mining in Bangka Island on 1879. Other famous historical sites are Depati Bahrin Grave, Belanda Srimenanti Graveyard, Kapur City Site, and Pahlawan 12 Burial Plot.
