Task 3

Pasupati -- New Icon of Bandung

Finally, Bandung has its second highway after Kiara Condong Highway named Pasupati Highway – and it become an icon too. This highway was first built in 1999 and finished in 2005 (open for public in June 25th 2005) although the plan was first issued in 1931. By structure, Pasupati consist of two parts – the highway and the bridge. The highway starts from the end of Djundjunan Road until Cihampelas Road. From Cihampelas section until Tamansari, Pasupati is supported by the cable-stayed bridge. The bridge crosses over the Tamansari valley where Cikapundung River flows. It consists of 5 steel cables at east side and 9 cables at west side. This asymmetrical design looks like an arch and also kecapi-suling, the traditional musical instruments of Sundanese culture. After Tamansari section, the highway continues until Surapati road. The total length of Pasupati is about 2,5 km, which is included 300 m of the cable stayed bridge.

The House’s Water Supply Process

Cold water was supplied from main pipe in the basement of the house and pumped to several pipes connected to the water outlets. Pipe at the first floor supplied water to the sink while pipes at the second floor supplied the toilet, wash basin, and also bath tub. Main pipe at the second floor also supplies the cold water tank located in the roof top. The cold water tank will supplies water to the hot water tank – where cold water is heated. Then the hot water tank supplies water to bath tub, wash basin, and also the sink on the first floor.
